Finlay Privacy Policy
Finlay collects no data. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising. Your books, highlights, notes, voice recordings and study cards stay on your device.
What stays on your device
- PDF and EPUB files you import, and everything you add to them: highlights, handwriting, notes, answer boxes and exam covers.
- Voice notes. Your voice is transcribed on your device and the audio is not saved; only the text of the note is stored, next to the book it belongs to.
- Flashcards and their review schedule.
If you use iCloud Drive or a device backup, Apple stores those files under your Apple Account according to Apple's privacy policy. Miami Behavior Center LLC has no access to them.
Apple Intelligence and other on-device features
Go Deeper explanations, card suggestions and note cleanup use Apple's on-device language model. Speech recognition and read-aloud also run on your device using Apple frameworks. Finlay sends nothing it reads or hears to us or to any third party. When a feature is not available on your device, Finlay simply does not offer it.
Permissions
- Media & Apple Music — only to play the music you choose while you read, from your own files or your Apple Music account.
- Microphone — only while you dictate a voice note you start.
- Speech recognition — only to transcribe your voice notes on your device.
- Files — only the documents you choose to open or import.
You can turn these off at any time in Settings. The rest of Finlay keeps working.
Children
Finlay is a study tool for students and health professionals and is not directed to children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.
Not medical advice
Finlay is for study only. Calculations, reference ranges and generated explanations can be wrong or differ from your course or facility. Always follow orders, your facility's policies and your instructors.
