Common questions
How do I add a book?
Tap + in the Library and choose a PDF or EPUB from Files, or share a file to Finlay from another app.
How does exam mode work?
Open a question-bank PDF, tap the study button in the reader and choose Cover Answers on This Page: Finlay covers the lines that start with “Correct answer” or “Rationale”. If your book uses another format, select the text and choose Cover Selection. Tap a cover to peek, or Check Page to show every answer on the page. Covers are saved with the book and never change the PDF.
Why doesn't Go Deeper work on my device?
These use Apple Intelligence on your device. They need a device that supports it, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings and its model downloaded; if something is missing, Finlay tells you what. Everything else in Finlay works without it.
My voice note wasn't transcribed.
Check that Microphone and Speech Recognition are allowed for Finlay in Settings → Privacy & Security. On-device transcription needs the speech model for your language; your device downloads it the first time.
Can I use Siri?
Yes: “Open my pharmacology book in Finlay”, “Take a note in Finlay”, “Start a study session in Finlay”. The same actions are in Spotlight and the Shortcuts app.
Where is my data? How do I back it up?
Everything stays on your device; Finlay has no account or server. Your device backup (iCloud or computer) includes Finlay's data. See the Privacy Policy.
Are the calculator and lab values safe to use at work?
No. Finlay is for study only. Ranges differ between labs and textbooks. Always follow orders, your facility's policies and your instructors.
